Description
This is a rare map of the Michigan Upper Peninsula by itself. This land became part of Michigan (vs. Wisconsin Territory) with the compromise reached in the US Congress yielding Toledo and adjacent territory to Ohio. The land shown is well underdeveloped, with Houghton which is a University town, Iron River and other towns not yet established. Plenty of details are offered as to topography, rivers, lakes, cities and towns, roads, railroads, etc. Color-coded counties.
