American Late Classical Carved Mahogany Tall Post Tester Bed

circa 1840, multi-part form, mahogany veneer, white pine secondary, the tall quatrefoil posts surmounted by a bold ogee and cove molded tester, the headboard featuring a relief carved and applied cartouche within a broken arched pediment, above a book-matched high grade burl veneered panel, shaped foot rail and side rails with central relief carved acanthus and stylized shell.
