Bui Huu Hung is a leading modern artist in Vietnam working in the traditional lacquer painting medium and elevating it to new levels through addition of chiaroscuro style atmosphere giving his paintings and rich intimate and almost dreamlike presence. He focuses on figures of women of various societal ranks and surrounds them with elegant attendants and traditional Vietnamese artifacts.
