Genaro Alvarez Mid-Century Modern Sunflower Mosaic. Vibrant and beautiful composition of sunflowers (perhaps inspired by Van Gogh) in a vase in mosaic on wood. Signed lower right and stamped on the back, "by Genaro", cradled in a wood frame. Genaro Alvarez (Mexican 20th C), a student of Diego Rivera, was known for his modernist mosaic creations in the late 1950's and early 1960's. The Genaro Alvarez Studio was located in Mexico City, where he created mosaic furniture, wall hangings, and decorative furnishings using natural rocks, semi-precious stones, and glass mosaic.
