Description
Western Europe, Neoclassical period, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely pair of glass intaglios both boasting a translucent hue of aubergine and incised with an image of Greek god Zeus (Roman Jupiter). On each piece, the ancient deity is shown crowned and throned in profile, holding a staff in one hand and his signature eagle in the other. Easily set into a pendant or ring for a wearable piece of history! Size (both about the same): 0.5" W x 0.4" H (1.3 cm x 1 cm); of display box: 3.1" L x 2.6" W x 0.8" H (7.9 cm x 6.6 cm x 2 cm)
