Description
Near East / Central Asia, Persia, Late Sassanian empire to early Islamic period, ca. 7th century to 11th century CE. An ellipsoid stamp seal carved from a milky tan banded agate, perforated for suspension, and engraved with an animal facing right. Although somewhat donkey-like in appearance, the legs have paws / toes, so perhaps this is a dog or another quadruped. Size: 1" L x 0.75" W (2.5 cm x 1.9 cm)
