Native American, Southern United States, Mississippian culture, ca. 1140 to 1420 CE. A hand-built plainware vessel exhibiting a rounded base and impressively thin walls that curve gently up to the annular rim and 4 evenly spaced lug handles. This is likely a Dallas Plain type, tempered with small to medium crushed white shell fragments, and exhibits hues of red-orange, cream, beige, and dark firing clouds. A lovely example constructed using the coils and paddle molding. Size: 6.5" Diameter x 4.25" H (16.5 cm x 10.8 cm)

Small loss and chip to rim of bowl and handle. Stable hair line fissures radiating vertically from the rim. No restoration. Dark firing clouds throughout.
