Native American, US Southwest, Arizona, Phoenix Basin, Hohokam culture, ca. 1100 to 1400 CE. A lovely pottery bowl featuring a round yet stable base and convex walls that travel inwards to a circular rim, all topped with a high-arching handle. The exterior of the ancient vessel is beautifully adorned with maroon and grey pigments forming a geometric pattern of diamonds that also travels up the exterior of the handle. Alternatively, the interior presents a bare terracotta surface in a shade of light orange. Natural mica deposits in the clay create a lustrous sparkling effect throughout the dish! Collection number on base. Repaired from several pieces with break lines visible, as well as some losses and chipping along break lines. Expected surface wear to areas. Otherwise, very nice with impressive remaining pigments.
