Condition: Good.Feldman retired from Brown University in 2007 but never ceased his busy art making schedule. In addition to working on a series of paintings in acrylic he began work on a publication from Ziggurat Press that served as a chronology of his art career, Points in Time. Summer Contrasts is a fine example of the artists’ ability to explore his expressionist style. A stickler for using beautiful papers in both his books and art in Summer Contrasts he works on handmade paper then prepares the painting surface with gesso before he lays on the acrylic. Feldman begins to standardize the scale of his paintings on paper then adhered them to masonite resulting in an impressive body of work for an 87-year-old artist. These works explore color and forms in his summer studio at Little Compton. Feldman came to Brown University in 1953 after getting an MFA from Yale and teaching there for 2 years. He won a Fulbright scholarship in 1957. His works have been included in one person and group exhibitions at major museums such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Institute of Contemporary Art.
