Paul Alphonse Viry (French, 1832-1913) Oil On Beveled Mahogany Panel, 1877, The Falconer, H 11.75" W 14.5" | Signed and dated in the lower left. Finely detailed oil on mahogany panel. Interior scene with a seated falconer next to a dog with three falcons. George Rowney Co., London, label on panel verso. Walter Richmond, Providence, RI label on frame verso. Having a substantial giltwood frame, H 23", W 25". Provenance: From the Estate of Prominent Collector, Leon Zielinski, Macomb County, MI. Wolf's Gallery, Cleveland, 9-16-1989. A note from the Wolf's listing states this painting was exhibited a the Brooklyn Museum of Arts & Science (not date for the exhibition was provided).
Condition
Slight rubbing at the extreme edges where the panel meets the frame. Overall varnish fluoresces under UV light. No evidence of restoration.
