Jeanne Sarah Nathalie Micas (French, 1824-1889) Oil On Beveled Wood Panel H 8.5'' W 17'' | Signed lower right and dated 1889. Depicting chickens and rooster in a hayfield. Verso having numerous inventory and gallery stamps. Micas and her partner, Rosa Bonheur, lived together for 40 years. An uncredited black and white image of this work is posted on the Feminine Moments website that has a tribute page for Micas and Bonheur.. Provenance: From the Estate of Leon Zielinski. Purchased Frank Boos Gallery, Bloomfield Hills, MI 4/2/98 #728.
Condition
Rubbing at the extreme edges where the panel meets the frame. Stable craquelure. Pin-sized point of pigment loss in the upper left.
