Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy Signed Photograph, PSA Encapsulated
A photograph depicting famous comedic duo Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy, measuring 3.5" x 5.25", n.p., undated. Boldly signed by both above their likenesses, with an added inscription at middle (possibly in Laurel's hand) reading, "Thanks Arthur!". PSA encapsulated to the overall size of 4.25" x 7.25" and verified authentic. Exhibits general toning and darkened handling marks to recto, with scattered soiling present on verso. Very good overall with crisp signatures.
Laurel and Hardy were a British-American comedy duo act consisting of Englishman Stan Laurel (1890–1965) and American Oliver Hardy (1892–1957). Starting their career together in the silent film era, they later successfully transitioned to "talkies". From the late 1920s to the mid-1950s, they were internationally famous for their slapstick comedy, with Laurel playing the clumsy, childlike friend to Hardy's pompous bully. Their signature theme song, known as "The Cuckoo Song", "Ku-Ku", or "The Dance of the Cuckoos" (by Hollywood composer T. Marvin Hatley) was heard over their films' opening credits, and became as emblematic of them as their bowler hats.
