A RARE AND IMPORTANT TORAH SHIELD. Germany, 1739. Of cartouche shape. Chased with two outwardly facing lions flanking a cartouche inscribed in the center with donor information. Also, there are three chased crowns, under which each is inscribed in order: CROWN OF THE TORAH, CROWN OF THE MALCHUT AND CROWN OF THE KAHUNA. Additionally decorated with three diamonds. Bottom section is chased in shell design with ring to hold a pointer. 9" x 9". Estimate $60,000 - 80,000
