Description
Mid to late 19th century. Carved white marble garden sculpture of angelic female being washed by angels. The work is excellently rendered and was possibly created around the region it was discovered in Hickory, North Carolina. The piece rests atop Classical style stand in white marble as well. Very good overall condition. Itinerant stone masons flocked to the South post civil war working on architecture of all types in the region. It's possible this work was carved by one of those artisans. The work weight approximately 800-1200 lbs. including the stand H74" (tall including the stand)
