Description
ASSORTED HAND-PAINTED CERAMIC ARTICLES, LOT OF NINE, including a Toby jug depicting a sitting gentleman holding a pitcher of ale on his knee, having hand-brushed "W.L." to front of base, four British spatterware plates comprising one with Holly Berry design and three stick sponge-decorated examples including Tulip in a Design and Thistle with Lily of the Valley and two Dutch Maestricht plates. Marks to underside include black-printed rampant lion with "SOCIETE CERAMIQUE / MAESTRICHT / MADE IN HOLLAND". Together with two Staffordshire ABC plates including one depicting a child with a fishing pole, "LONE FISHERMAN" printed below, and one depicting a milkmaid with bucket and cattle in background. Eleven (11) pieces total. 19th century. 9 3/8" HOA.
