Provenance/Additional Info: Official Title is: Our American Steel: A Modern Essential.

A complete set of four Vintage 1943 Coca-Cola "Our America" Educational Posters sent out to selected Educators for use in the classroom during WWII . This set depicts the Steel Industry in America. They were developed by Coca Cola to be used as teaching aids in the classroom and were distributed to schools in special publicity/teacher's kits. The kit includes the 4 very colorful posters, the Teacher’s Guide (called “Visual Instruction”) and the student workbook with multicolor stamps.

The 4 main lithographed posters are 32" x 22" and are incredibly vivid machine age drawings. Each one is a fantastic example of the style of the era.

CONDITION

The paper for all four posters is yellow and brittle. Poster 1- The folds are broken but still attached in places. There are bites out of the bottom and top edges at the fold and a few tiny bites in right edge. A small portion of one corner is also missing. Poster 2 – The middle fold is also ripped but still attached. Two corners are broken. Otherwise, the poster is mostly intact. Poster 3- Both folds have ripped but less so than with Poster 1. Three places along the bottom edge have bites. Otherwise, there are only smaller fleabites along the edge. There is a water stain on one corner. Poster 4- The horizonal fold has nearly detached. The vertical fold is ripped but still intact. The bottom edge has several bites, including a larger one near the bottom left. There are a few smaller bits on the other edges.

Other than yellowing of the covers on the teacher’s guide and one fleabite out of the back cover, it is in very good condition. The student guide was used and has the name of the student on the front cover, and the dedication page inside the cover has been filled out (He was in 4th grade in 1962). The various stickers have been pasted in the book. The spine shows a bit of wear and a tear, but otherwise, the paper of the student guide is in good condition.
