Description
Major General David Hunter (1802-1866) Autograph with Rank and CDV. Hunter raised one of the first Black Regiments, The First South Carolina, and he abolished slavery in his department. During the war, Hunter also burned V.M.I and the home of Virginia Governor John Letcher, looted Washington college. After the war, Hunter was on the committee that tried Lincoln's assassination conspirators. Autograph slip measures 2" X 3 3/8". CDV measures 2 3/8" X 4". The Larry Mangus Collection, Corinth, Mississippi. Condition- CDV and slip are in good condition with some toning. See photos.
