Atsuko Tanaka (1932-2005) was a seminal Japanese avant-garde artist, associated with the influential Gutai group. Known for her bold, experimental approach, Tanaka pioneered a fusion of art, performance, and technology. Her most iconic work, "Electric Dress" (1956), a wearable sculpture made of painted light bulbs, challenged traditional notions of art and femininity. Tanaka's innovative practice continues to inspire contemporary art discourse.
