CARLOS MIRET (Calatorao, Zaragoza, 1952) for Armat.
"Bermuda chair, 1985.
Black lacquered iron structure.
With micro-perforated sheet metal on the seat.
Measurements: 71.5 x 49 x 41 cm.
With a nod to the Bermuda triangle, the Bermuda chair by Carlos Miret has a triangular seat inscribed in a tripod support and an openwork backrest with a tubular profile. The result is elegant and minimalist.
Carlos Miret is an architect, urban planner and designer. He was the promoter and developer of the idea of an International Exhibition in Zaragoza. His professional work is developed in Aragon and Catalonia, where he has carried out building and planning projects. He is also a designer of furniture and street furniture. In 1976 he finished his studies as a Superior Architect at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Barcelona (ETSAB). He has been a municipal architect in Benabarre (Huesca) and Caspe (Zaragoza). He has been an advisor to Business and Social Associations in Zaragoza, a member of the Technical Committee of the Provincial Urban Planning Commission of the D.G.A., for which he carried out consultancy work and collaborated in the drafting of various Urban Planning Ordinances and Plans in Zaragoza. He has carried out various public projects in Aragon: La Cartuja Waste Water Treatment Plant, Town Halls in Benabarre, Aler, Biescas and Caspe, Civic Centre in Delicias (Zaragoza), Cultural Centre in Benabarre, as well as urban design works, squares, parks and street furniture. In October 2000, the Council of Ministers approved its project for the Advance Candidature, Expo Zaragoza 2008, with the theme "water". Finally, in 2004, at the assembly of the B.I.E. Bureau International des Expositions, Zaragoza's candidature was the winner over those of Italy (Trieste) and Greece (Thessaloniki). Since 1999, he has organised and chaired the Cultural Association for the Promotion of Zaragoza Expo 2008. 4In 2007 he wrote the book Así nació: Expo Zaragoza 2008. He worked for the companies Amat and Deceaux. A series of his designs was selected for the SDI International Design Selection of Furnishings for the Habitat at the Berlin fair.
