Description
A vintage bronze statue, after an original work of antiquity titled "Laocoon and His Sons," likely by Agesander of Rhodes. A figural group depicting the Trojan priest Laocoön and his sons being attacked by sea serpents. The original was excavated in Rome in 1506, and is on display at the Vatican. Mounted to a rectangular marble plinth. Incised names on verso, HAGESANDROS POLYDOROS ATHANADOROS, with round EUROPEAN BRONZE FINERY foundry mark.
Dimensions: 20 X 15 X 8 in.
Condition: Good overall condition with average age patina and surface wear, with dust sediment in its crevices. Mild storage wear to edges and corners of marble base. Estate fresh to the market.
