Description

Himer Jacob Fox (American/North Carolina 1826-1909), Mid-19th century North Carolina piedmont tan wood fired alkaline salt glazed two gallon stoneware jug, 19th/20th century, having a single handle and double inscribed bands containing scrolled decoration, signed to the shoulders. An extremely rare jug stamped for the artist.

Approximate measurements: h. 14. 5". dia. 9. 75"

Condition

Some chips and flakes to rim, scattered flakes or firing and glaze imperfections, no apparent cracks, or restorations when examined under ultraviolet light.
