A Massachusetts Three-Gallon Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug, Somerset Potters Works,19th Century. Stamped 'SOMERSET. / POTTERS WORKS.' above a '3' with hand-brushed cobalt blue floral decoration below.
The Somerset Potters Works operated in Somerset, Massachusetts from 1847-1882 by Leonard and Benjamin G. Chace. (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 51).
Dimensions: Height excluding electrical fitting 14 3/4in; height overall 21in; diameter 9 1/2in.
Provenance: Property from a New Jersey Collection.
Condition
In overall good condition. Typical wear, discolorations and manufacture imperfections. No observed damages, displays well.
