Item Details
Description
Oleg Stavrowsky (American, 1927-2020). "Rocky Mountain Ride" oil on board, ca. 1970s-80. Signed lower left. A mesmerizing Western painting by Oleg Stavrowsky featuring a lone cowboy on his horse traversing the Rocky Mountains - hence the title "Rocky Mountain Ride" - with an array of evergreens receding to the distance. The composition is impressively executed with remarkable foreshortening and photographic realism. Stavrowsky truly captured the immediacy of the scene and has credited his extensive experience in the field for making that "in the moment" quality a reality. In his words, "I found that authentic western areas and activities such as ranching, riding, rodeo, etc. are absolutely essential to believable paintings…none of this can be 'faked'." A remarkable painting by Stavrowsky mounted in a custom frame comprised of found rustic wood that suits the theme perfectly. Size (sight view): 29.5" L x 33.5" W (74.9 cm x 85.1 cm) Size (frame): 38" L x 41.75" W (96.5 cm x 106 cm)
