height 17 in. x width 13 in. x depth 29 in.

Provenance: The collection of a noted Latin American arts expert, who formerly lived for years in Mexico before relocating to San Antonio, Texas

Sergio Bustamante studied architecture at the University of Guadalajara and sold his artwork while in school, beginning in 1960. After graduating, he worked with local ceramicists, eventually opened his own studio and sold work to Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, and Harrods department stores. In 1972 he moved to Amsterdam where he "learned more about painting and design." In 1975, he established his Family Workshop Studio in Tiaquepaque, Mexico. His monumental sculpture is in a number of cities, notably his In Search of Reason in Puerto Vallarta, sculpture in the Guadalajara Zoo, Puerto Vallarta, and Tiaquepaque.
