Description
A single sheet broadside printed in black on one side dated Portland, February 17, 1825. The proclamation headed by an image of the seal of Maine declaring a day of public humiliation, fasting and prayer by Governor Albion Parris. Professionally mounted under glass and matted in an antiqued silvered frame. NOTE: A later newspaper illustration of Governor Parris is affixed to the paper on the verso of the frame. PROVENANCE: This was lot 38 in Thompson Auction. SIZE: Sight is 23" x 17". Overall is 30" x 24". CONDITION: several light foxing spots, otherwise very good. (05-368/TG). $300-450.
