Description
A pair of Chinese famille rose jardinieres

late 19th century

Both featuring a scene of court ladies with a child to one side, inscription to reverse. Sold with two associated, matching saucers. (2).

H: 8 3/4, Dia: 10 7/8 in.

H: 22.22, Dia: 27.62 cm. (jardiniere)

Provenance: Estate of Yip Hon (1904-1997). Nicknamed Kwai Wong (translated as Ghost King), Yip Hon was a gambling tycoon in South China. He amassed great wealth in the casinos there through his technique of listening dice, eventually opening his own casino.

Condition
All pieces with use wear. One jardiniere with star crack to underside. One saucer with numerous areas of glaze chipping to rim. The other saucer with one minor crack to rim. Other jardiniere with one chip to rim.
