Description
"The maker of this sword is Hiroshige, the third generation who was active in the Kanbun era of the Edo period. Shimohara Kaji is a highly skilled swordsmith and is widely known for forging Mito Mitsukuni's Jindachi.Shimohara Kaji was a group of blacksmiths under the patronage of the Hojo clan during the Muromachi period, and supported the Hojo clan's expansion into the Kanto region. Among them, the Hiroshige school boasts sharpness, and its name continues uninterrupted until the Meiji era.This sword has a shape without warping, which was popular in this era. The turbulent hamon, which is a mixture of straight blades and mutual grains on the ground iron with a conspicuous heathered grain, shows the unique workmanship of the Shimohara school.This one is tokubetsu hozon token.Blade length(Cutting edge): 44.8 cm, Curve (SOR):1.6 cm, Thickness at the Moto-Kasane &Wide at the Kissaki:7.0/33 mm, Thickness at the Saki-Kasane&Wide at the Kissaki: 5/28.0 mm"
