Description
Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Yup'ik culture, ca. mid-20th century CE. A set of 2 hand-carved wooden finger masks, the faces hollow, each with petite eyes and circular mouths as if chanting. Beneath each red-painted face is a pair of finger holes used when performing with the masks, and each is surrounded by mottled brown and solid white feathers. Size of largest (including feathers): 10" W x 7" H (25.4 cm x 17.8 cm); (display case): 2.5" L x 16.875" W x 20.875" H (6.4 cm x 42.9 cm x 53 cm)

Condition
Both masks are suspended to backing panel but have been examined outside of the display case. Both with light abrasions and fraying to some feathers, otherwise intact and excellent. Great preservation to pigment and feathers.
