19th century; the arch with painted rocking ship sailing on a sea, over a white-painted dial with gilt decoration to each corner, black Roman chapters and seconds dial; with weights, keys, and pendulum 94 x 20 x 11 in. (238.8 x 50.8 x 27.9 cm.) Provenance: Property from the Milton Family Estate. Note: this clock was brought to the US from England in the early 19th century by Captain Thomas Milton, who was famed for also importing the first pagoda tree to Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard.
