Description
This amazing machine is from Ford Gum & Machine Co., Inc. Globe retains the original decal with the gum ingredients and logo. Copper toned base has a serial number of 398687 and the front retains the original company plaque on front. The gum does not appear original however it still may be Ford gum, and some have the word Ford on them. Stands approx. 11.5" tall. In 1913, Ford Mason originally leased bubble gum machines around his community to make money during the winter months. By 1916, after observing other bubblegum vendors, he realized that none of the other vendors cared much about the consumer and more about making money. Machines were bad and the gum wasn't great so he and his father invented their own machines. They became very successful and moved their operation to Lockport New York. By 1960, they moved the business to Akron NY where they are still headquarted today.
Condition
Overall very fine condition for age and use. Wear to copper consistent with use. Ring around globe held together with safety pin.
