The painting features a wonderfully and professionally crafted oil on canvas construction. The oil painting shows a depiction of The Battle of Hampton Roads and shows a battle between "Iron Clad" battleships, The Monitor and The Merrimack, on March 9, 1862. Emmett Pierre Wainwright is most famously remembered for painting the posters for the 1933 World's Fair in Chicago, Illinois.
