Description
Framed handwritten letter requesting ‘six feet and eight inches of wood in full of the above requisition.’ from Fort Crawford (Wisconsin). Hand signed in ink to lower right. Dated January 12, 1834. Some creasing to paper observed. Not examined out of frame. Kenneth W. Rendell Inc invoice from October 27 1971, framing invoice from Scarsdale Art and Frame Shop from December 9th, 1972. Measures approx. 7 5/8 x 11 5/8 inches, window approx. 6 3/8 x 10 3/8 inches. Zachary Taylor was an American military leader who served as the 12th president of the United States from 1849 until his death in 1850. Taylor was a career officer in the United States Army, rising to the rank of major general and becoming a national hero for his victories in the Mexican–American War.
