Birger Johan Olsson Nordfeldt, known as B. J. O. Nordfeldt, was a Swedish-American painter and printmaker. He was born on March 3, 1878, in Tullstorp, Sweden, and died on April 13, 1955, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.Nordfeldt began his artistic training in Stockholm, Sweden, and later studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany. In 1903, he moved to the United States and settled in Chicago, where he became associated with the city's art scene.Nordfeldt's early works were influenced by the Swedish landscape and traditional European painting styles. However, his style evolved over time, and he became increasingly interested in modernist and avant-garde approaches to art. He embraced new techniques and experimented with different mediums, including painting, printmaking, and sculpture.During his career, Nordfeldt moved several times, living and working in various cities across the United States, including Chicago, New York, Taos (New Mexico), and Santa Fe. These different environments influenced his artistic subject matter, and he captured a range of landscapes, urban scenes, and portraits in his work.Nordfeldt's art reflects a synthesis of modernist and regionalist influences.
