Condition
As described, this is an assembled set comprising a seven-piece set by Charles Folliot and an associated tea caddy and tray. The main set is in overall good condition with nice details. Minor condition issues as follows: Kettle-on-stand: Handle hinges secure but worn so that the handle does not stand upright. Small pinpoint dent on the shoulder. Small dent on burner; burner wick screw lacking. Coffeepot: Tiny dent on shoulder. Shrinkage cracks to the insulators with a small loss on the lower one, but handle is secure with minor give. Teapot: Small, shallow 1/4" dent on the body. Shrinkage cracks to the insulators, but handle is secure with moderate give. Hot milk pot: Small, shallow 5/16" dent on the body. Covered sugar bowl: No issues noted. Cream jug: No issues noted. Waste bowl: considerable wear the gilding on the interior, but otherwise no issues noted. All these pieces are marked with (on the body) the French first standard Mercury's head export mark and (on the underside) the lozenge-shaped maker's mark of Charles Folliot ("Folliot" + a salt stand and two stars) and "Sterling". The tea caddy has a fairly deep but short (1/4") dent on the body, with some scattered smaller bumps, dings and scuffs. Marked (on the cap sleeve and cap) with the French first standard Minerva's head and (on the underside and cap) with the lozenge-shaped Puiforcat mark ("EP" + a penknife). The tray has a few shallow dimples with some light scuffs and scrapes on the plateau, but otherwise in good shape. Marked (upper rim) with the French first standard Minerva's head and (twice on the underside rim) with a rubbed lozenge-shaped maker's mark, possibly "CB".
