Description
Roman, Imperial to Byzantine Era, ca. 4th to 8th century CE. A collection of cast bronze and brass objects from the late Roman and Byzantine period- an oil reservoir filler, a crescent blade shoemaker's tool, and a holder that features a rotating cylindrical socket- possibly a candle holder, the rounded base catching wax drippings. Size of oil filler: 3.65" L x 2.25" W x 0.75" H (9.3 cm x 5.7 cm x 1.9 cm)
Provenance: ex-Estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan USA acquired before 2000

Loss to handle on oil filler. Crescent blade is intact. Losses and bending to rotating holder. Surface polishing and cleaning to both blade and oil filler. Areas of dark toning and green patina.
