This is a hardcover book titled "The Siskind Variations, a Quartet of Photographs & Contemplations by Aaron Siskind" orchestrated and edited by Michael Torosian (1990). Siskind (American, 1903-1991) was a photographer whose work focused on the details of things, presented as flat surfaces to create a new image independent of the original subject. He was part of the abstract expressionist movement, and was close friends with painters Franz Kline, Mark Rothko, and Willem de Kooning.

This limited edition book is 1/4 bound in gray linen, gray paper boards, paper label with black lettering on spine; limitation number (4/C) on the colophon. There are 26 lettered and 190 numbered copies. Illustrated with two original silver gelatin prints from the negatives.

From the Upstate New York estate of Marshall and Kay Lee. Marshall was a well known collector of Pre-Columbian pottery and a talented and well-respected book designer in the publishing industry.
