Description
This is a signed artist's proof color lithograph from Richard Lidner (German-American, 1901-1978). Lindner was born in Germany but moved to the US in 1941 in an effort to escape the Nazis. In the 1950s he developed a style of painting that drew upon Expressionism and Surrealism, along with the hyper-sexualized lifestyle that he encountered in New York. After appearing on the Beatles Sgt. Pepper cover, his abstract style would find echoes in the animated feature film Yellow Submarine.
From the Upstate New York estate of Marshall and Kay Lee. Marshall was a well known collector of Pre-Columbian pottery and a talented and well-respected book designer in the publishing industry.
The frame is 25 1/4 x 18 1/4". The sight is 24 1/2 x 17 1/2"
