Description
DESCRIPTION: Two antique original architectural drawings dating from the 18th century or possibly earlier.
The first drawing depicts the entrance of a church with a choir loft, pipe organ and vaulted dome overhead; a winged, crowned figure playing a harp sits atop the pipe organ. Beneath this sketch is a top-down drawing, probably of the same space, with a scale underneath. Light pencil outline drawings on verso. This drawing is accomplished in graphite and gray wash on heavy wove paper.
The second drawing depicts a bearded angel holding a scythe and with his arm resting on a blank shield as he reclines atop a base ornamented with foliage motifs and a sword. This drawing is accomplished in graphite, ink and wash on lined paper; this paper has been affixed to a second, larger piece of lined paper. Jester or foolscap watermark, visible when held to light, on the larger piece of lined paper.

CONDITION: Both items show wear consistent with age and use, including toning, creasing, foxing, staining, folding, minor tearing and other wear. Residue present on both items in spots.
