Description
Latin America, Mexico, ca. mid to late 1970s CE. A hand-carved wood santo of Saint Anthony of Padua standing in a wood nicho with a decorative tin fan at the top, all painted in hues of red, blue, beige, brown, black, and white. The tonsured figure wears a long robe and holds out both arms while gazing skyward. A string of 17 Mexican coins decorates the area behind him, while the head of 5 cherubim arch above. Size: 12.6" W x 22.8" H (32 cm x 57.9 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
