Description
19th century fan, hand painted scene with dancers, signed on left side A. Ledoux; verso scene with a woman in landscape. Pierced and gilt decorated mother-of-pearl guards and sticks. Circa 1875. In an Alexandre box. Fan approximately 11 1/4"H x 19 3/4"W open. One guard cracked and partially detached (piece present), fan torn at missing guard, creases and minor losses at pleats, losses to gilt decoration along top and bottom edges of fan, fraying and tears at pleats at top edge; staining and discoloration to box and interior of box, tape residue on box.
