Description
Federal Mahogany, Giltwood And Eglomise Banjo Clock, Sawin & Dyar, Boston, 1822-27. The circular clock face signed "Sawin & Dyars/ BOSTON," above the throat glass stencilled with a cartouche and berried vine, flanked by brass scroll sidearms, the reverse painted tablet depicting a battle between the USS 'Constitution' and HMS 'Guerriere,' the interior of the door signed with numerous repair notations, and one side affixed with a label printed "HENRY POVALL & SON Clock Maker, Brookline, MA." H: 34 in., W: 10 in., D: 4 in.
