Description
Spencer Model 1860 Carbine, Serial Number 35844, .52 Caliber. The top of the receiver marked "SPENCER REPEATING/ RIFLE CO. BOSTON, MASS/ PAT'D MARCH 6, 1860" and serial number "35844," the 22-inch barrel secured to the walnut forearm with a single iron ring, the brass bead front sight with notch and ladder rear sight, the butt stock with saddle ring, faint inspector's cartouche and Lone Star round metal inlay, possibly a Texas Ranger rifle, the top of the butt stock with mother-of-pearl inlaid star, diamond and square (square inlay missing), the saddle ring mounted side of the stock impressed "J.V. MALA," the hammer side impressed "W. MALA." Retains magazine tube. Overall length: 39 in. "Antique Firearm;" not subject to NFA regulations.
