Description
Group of two Inuit soapstone carvings including one head and one figural group. The figural carving is by Mitiarjuk Nappaaluk (Inuk, 1931-2007), Disc# E9-1244, from Kangiqsualujjuaq in Northern Quebec, Canada. Signed along the underside.
Head; height: 4 in x width: 3 1/2 in x depth: 2 in. Crying; height: 6 1/4 in x width: 6 1/4 in x depth: 3 1/4 in.

Condition
No major cracks, dents, or losses. Wear throughout as shown in the listing image. Dust collected along the recessed areas. The coloration to the upper and underside of the item captured left in the listing image. Minute chipping to both items; however, it does not alter the overall appearance of each item. Along the underside of the bigger item, there is loss, measuring approximately 1 1/2 in; please see the listing image. To the back of the smaller item, there are areas with adhesive residue from old tape that was adhered to it. No visible sign of restoration under UV light to both items.
