Marcel J. Truppa (1920-2018) Oil on board abstract still life painting. Signed lower right. Measures 20" x 16". Bio from his obituary: Born in Lyon, France, Marcel was raised in Italy before coming to the United States in 1930, where he settled in Rahway. He served honorably in the United States Army during WWII and saw action in Europe and at the Battle of the Bulge. He worked as an artist, art director and art consultant for many years before his retirement in 1992. Marcel was an exceptionally talented artist in many mediums, including water colors and oils, and he was inspired by the works of his friend, Joseph Cornell. Marcel loved visiting museums and taking in all that they had to offer. He was very proud of his friendship with the late pop artist Andy Warhol. Marcel was a very generous individual who endowed several scholarships for aspiring artists. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1146 of Rahway and The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 681 of Rahway.
