Offset-printed poster. 70.9x42.3 cm (28x16¾").

First printing of the elusive Rick Griffin Hawaiian Aoxoamoxoa poster. Printed for a cancelled series of shows from Friday to Sunday, July 25 to 27, 1968 at the Exhibit Hall of the Honolulu International Center, it is an extremely rare Griffin/Grateful Dead poster as most copies were destroyed for an unpaid printerâ€˜s bill. Derived from work Griffin had done for the Deadâ€˜s third studio album, the 1969 Aoxoamoxoa, this classic image is adapted to the Hawaiian setting with a presiding tiki and Griffinâ€˜s surfing eyeballs hitting the tube. A second printing was done in 1982 with the center of the sun being pure white. Art of Rock 3-116.

Condition

Pinholes at corners, bump at lower right corner, a few creases and bends; verso with some mounting putty residue and abrasions from putty removal, one such bleeding through just off-center in the sun on recto; about very good.
