(Paris, France) Majolica Rococo Style Vase & Cover c.1870, the cobalt blue gadrooned body decorated with a large festoon of brightly glazed blossoms above a panel of shell and two large scroll leaf handles, the domed lid with foliage and a pineapple finial, all upon a circular foot upon a square section pedestal base, 22"h, 12"w. Only known example. Thomas Sargent produced high quality majolica mostly in the Palissy Figurine Rustique style, this rare Rococo style vase is unusual for this factories work in it?s scale and subject matter. Sargent exhibited at the major 19th centuryInternational Exhibitions and it is very probable that this vase was an exhibition piece.
