Revival Fluted Snake Handled Oviform Vase c.1857, after designs by Alfred Stevens which exist in the Minton Archives, Manufactured for the Crystal Palace Art Union, shape 703, this example 1857, ?Crystal Palace/ Art Union? painted on neck. The vase designed in the Italian maiolica style, painted with vertical panels of classical figures and grotesques, the handles formed as coiled snake spirals with female mask terminals, all upon a circular foot, 11".
