Description
(A) The smiling doll wearing pink dress is a 1930s portrayal of then Princess Elizabeth of England, who went on to become the reigning monarch thereafter. She is incised "Porzellanabnik Burggrub Princess Elizabeth 5 Made in Germany DRGM." She has blue-grey glass sleep eyes, a smiling mouth with four upper teeth and stuck-out protruding ears. She is meant to somewhat resemble the likeness of Elizabeth during the year of fabrication, roughly 1930. She has the original five-piece composition toddler body, has the original blonde mohair wig with bow in hair, which is coordinated with the dress with low-rise waisted sash. Shoes are antique white leather and she comes with a medallion hanging around her neck in form of a necklace, obviously later than the doll itself, and is embossed "As Presented to the City of Belfast to Commemorate the Coronation 1953" with a portrait of the Queen in her coronation attire on the back. (B) The second doll is an open-mouth toddler with two upper teeth, brown glass sleep-eyes, incised on the back of the head "K. W. 1070." The head is attached to a fully-articulated German wood and composition toddler body with side hip joints, dressed in a hounds tooth wool 1920s-era boy suit with matching hat and antique blue leather shoes, most likely originally made for a child of the same period. Both dolls are in overall good condition, with the boy having some wear to the body, especially with the paint surface of the hands, but no damage found. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: Largest: 21" H.
