Two volumes of Gutheries history of England 1744 and 1751 complete with some hand written notes throughout, previously owned by Captain Thomas Herbert R.N of Caherna, Killarney, who joined the navy in 1803 at the age of Ten (10) and rose through the ranks becoming captain in 1822, Rear - Admiral in 1852 and Vice - Admiral in 1857.He is the man credited with the recovery in 1840 of the time piece undergoing testing on the "Bounty" when she was mutinied. He also served as Commissioner of the Admiralty 1852 - 1853 (Third Naval Lord) and died in 1861
