George Rodrigue (March 13, 1944 – December 14, 2013) was an American artist who in the late 1960s began painting Louisiana landscapes, followed soon after by outdoor family gatherings and southwest Louisiana 19th-century and early 20th-century genre scenes. His paintings often include moss-clad oak trees, which are common to an area of French Louisiana known as Acadiana. In the mid-1990s Rodrigue's Blue Dog paintings, based on a Cajun legend called Loup-garou, catapulted him to worldwide fame.

This print was part of Michel Roux's estate. He was the liquor icon, who along with ad agency TBWAWorldwide, started Absolut Vodka's iconic print campaign which pioneered the concept of commissioning artists to create legendary advertisements. Starting with the artist Andy Warhol for the famous ABSOLUT WARHOL ad, and continuing on with major artists such as Keith Haring, Annie Leibowitz, Britto, and countless others, Absolut's ad campaign completely redefined the world of vodka. In particular, it reintroduced the once-obscure liquor brand Absolut into the spotlight of bars throughout America.
